After Liverpool’s historic League and Cup Double in 1986, when Ian Rush (pic) netted two goals in both the FA Cup Semi-Final and Final, against Southampton and Everton respectively, The Reds kicked off the new season at Wembley against Everton in the Charity Shield. Rush scored Liverpool’s goal in the 1-1 draw at Wembley, Liverpool and Everton shared the Charity Shield for 6 months each and Rush went on to score 30 league and 40 goals overall in 1986-87.
